Two Knights Jousting In A Tournament Coloring Page

Two knights face each other across the page in the middle of a tournament bout. The one on the left has taken the aggressive position, sword raised straight overhead in one hand, kite shield held across the body, a long cape streaming out behind and a plume standing up from the helmet. The one on the right has dropped into a crouch behind a much larger shield, plume swept back, only the helmet and one leg showing past its edge. Both shields carry a plain cross, which is the obvious place to begin, and the simplest way to make the two fighters read as opponents is to give each of them a pair of colors and use that same pair on the shield, the cape and the surcoat. The armor is drawn as a few large plates at the arms, knees and shins with almost nothing inside them, so a light gray with one darker edge on each plate is enough to suggest metal. The line work is thick and widely spaced throughout and no background has been drawn at all.
