A knight leans in from behind it, one gauntlet holding the heavy lid open, his plumed helm tipped forward and two round eye holes staring at the pile inside. The gems are drawn as dozens of small faceted lumps, heaped above the rim, and more of them have tumbled out onto the ground at the base. Iron straps with rivets wrap the corners, a shield-shaped plate guards the keyhole, and a big cross-shaped fitting is bolted across the front.

All those little gems make this sheet a slow one, in the good sense. There is no pressure to finish, and each stone can take a different shade, so it works well as something to pick up and put down across a week.

Give the chest a warm wood tone and keep the iron bands dark, then let the jewels run riot. The contrast is what sells the idea of treasure.
