Knight Crossing A Drawbridge At Dawn Coloring Page

A plank drawbridge runs from the foot of the page up to a chained gatehouse, one small knight walking the span.

The bridge is the subject here, not the man on it. A broad deck of planks runs from the very bottom edge of the page away from you and up to a stone gatehouse, and the boards narrow as they go so the span feels long. Two heavy chains drop from the gatehouse to iron rings set in the deck. Above the arch the wall is finished with square battlements and pierced by two narrow slits. Block walls run off to either side. Below the deck the moat is drawn as simple wavy lines, and grass sprouts at both bottom corners.

A single small knight walks the crossing in profile, helmeted, in a tabard, caught mid stride. He is tiny against the structure, which is the point.

All those planks and blocks are a long steady job rather than a difficult one. Running two alternating tones along the deck is the quickest way to make the perspective read.

Nothing on the sheet actually says dawn, so the sky is yours to decide.

A drawbridge was wound up by a windlass inside the gatehouse, and the chains you see here are the working part. Raised, the deck itself became a second door across the arch.
