Anime Wizard Casting A Glowing Spell

An old wizard stands square to the viewer with one hand lifted and a single finger extended, and a thin thread of magic spirals up from the fingertip and breaks into wisps above his hat. That rising ribbon is the focal point of the sheet, and it is drawn with enough space between the curls that a bright accent there will carry the whole page.

He wears a tall pointed hat with a soft bend in the crown, a wide brim and a square buckle on the band. His beard is long and split into waves that fall past his chest, and a braided cord hangs beside it. The robe is the largest area on the page: heavy sleeves, a deep cowl bunched at the shoulder, and a skirt of long vertical folds running to the bottom edge. Fine directional lines follow those folds, so pick a shade and press harder inside the creases rather than trying to fill each stripe.
