Anime Ninja Leaping Through The Air

The ninja is caught at the top of a leap, arms thrown wide, one fist clenched and the other hand pulled back near the shoulder. Both legs trail behind in a long diagonal that runs corner to corner, which is what makes the pose read as flight rather than a standing figure. A hood covers the head down to the eyes, a wrapped mask covers everything below them, and only a narrow strip of face and two sharp eyes are visible between.

Loose fabric does most of the work here. A headband tail and a long scarf stream out to the right, the sleeves and trousers balloon and crease, and a wide belt crosses the waist with a knotted sash hanging from it. Every fold is a closed shape, so shading with two tones of the same shade will give the cloth real weight.

The corners are filled with open flowers and curling stems, and single petals drift across the middle of the page between them. Those petals are the smallest shapes on the sheet and a good place to spend a bright accent. Keep the ninja himself in a narrow range, perhaps charcoal and slate with one warm shade on the belt, and let the border flowers carry the brightness instead.
