The rattle is the whole point of this sheet, so the tail curls up and holds it clear of the ground where you can see every segment. A rattlesnake adds a new segment each time it sheds its skin, which happens more than once a year, so counting them tells you less about its age than people think. The body lies stretched along the ground with the head low at the front, and a row of diamond markings runs down the back as open outlines. Colour the rattle in a light tone to keep it readable against the body, then alternate two shades through the diamonds. This is the most detailed of the realistic sheets and it suits pencils better than markers.
