A koala leans out from behind a wide gum tree trunk with both forearms hooked over the edge, which is exactly what they do when something moves below them. The bark runs in long open lines beside the animal, so you get a big striped area to work on next to all the round shapes of the head and ears. Try a warm grey wash on the face and a cooler grey on the trunk to push the animal forward. The ear tufts are the one place worth a fine tipped pen, since everything else on the sheet is wide open.
