Superhero Rescuing a Cat From a Tree Coloring Page

He hangs in the air facing you, forearms folded up against his chest, with a small cat sitting in both hands and looking straight out at whoever is holding the crayon. The cape opens wide to either side of him and his boots dangle below the belt.

That cat is the lightest thing here. It gets two round eyes, a small nose, a curved mouth and a pair of pointed ears, and every other part of its face is bare paper. There is no shading anywhere on it, so it finishes far quicker than the figure holding it.

One tree takes the right edge and nothing else stands behind them. The trunk climbs the full height of the sheet and the leaves gather into a bank of rounded lobes, each lobe closed off and left open inside apart from a few light strokes. No individual leaves need picking out.

The mask is one unbroken band across the brow with both eyes plainly showing beneath it, and the whole front of the suit stays empty, so a crest-sized space is sitting there if anyone wants to invent one.

Because the foliage is a single mass it sets the mood. Fill it solidly and the figure jumps forward. Leave it white and he floats alone.
