This is the simplest sheet in the set and it was built that way. A tall figure stands facing you with both arms folded across the chest, feet apart, cape hanging in two long panels that reach almost to the boots.

Count the lines and there are hardly any. The torso is one shape. Each leg is one shape. The cape is two. There is a belt, a pair of boot cuffs and a mask, and that is the whole drawing. Nothing is printed on the chest and no pattern runs anywhere on the costume.

For a preschooler this matters more than it sounds. Large uninterrupted areas mean a child who cannot yet stay inside a narrow line still finishes the page looking neat, and a single crayon covers the body in a few strokes.

For an older child the same emptiness is an invitation. Everything a costume would normally have is missing, so stripes, a chest symbol, boot trim and a two tone cape can all be invented and drawn straight onto the page before any color goes down.

Either way the folded arms give the figure a settled, patient look that a running or flying pose does not, which makes it a good first page in the set.
