A single pirate ship sails across the middle of this page on a line of low rolling waves. The hull curves up to a high point at the bow on the right and sweeps back to a raised stern on the left, with four round gun ports spaced along the side and a few long planking lines running the length of the timbers.
One tall mast rises from the deck carrying two square sails, the upper one billowing wide and the lower one hanging straight, each divided into panels by vertical seams. Two smaller angled sails sit forward near the bow.
At the very top, a flag flies from a short staff, and below it hangs the skull and crossbones: a rounded skull with two dark eye sockets, a row of teeth, and two long bones crossed beneath it.
The sea is drawn as nothing more than three or four wavy lines running right across the lower part of the sheet, and everything above the mast is bare paper. The shapes are few and generous, which makes this an easy first pirate page for a small child.
