A butterfly sits square in the middle with wings spread, and behind it a rosette pushes out sixteen diamond petals, every one carrying the same nested eye shape inside. A scalloped circle runs behind the butterfly's body and a second, larger one passes through the petal tips. The four corners hold small sprays of flowers and spirals in a lighter line. One thing worth knowing before you start is that the line work is soft and gray rather than crisp black, so heavy dark colors will swallow it. Medium tones, or pencils used with a light hand, keep the drawing visible underneath.
