Rainbow Over A Waterfall Coloring Page

The waterfall gets nearly all the attention on this sheet and the rainbow is a thin detail above it. Water falls in long vertical strokes over a wide stepped ledge, breaking around blocks of rock that jut through the flow, then gathers into a shallow pool at the bottom scattered with loose oval stones. Cliffs of layered rock rise on both sides. A line of narrow pointed pine trees runs along the ridge behind the falls and down the right hand slope, and above them a pair of slim arcs curves across the upper corner and off the edge of the page. The vertical strokes in the water are the key to this one. Leave the white paper showing between them and use only a pale blue on some of the strokes, and the fall will read as moving water. Fill it solidly and it turns into a flat blue wall. Waterfalls throw up enough spray to make their own rainbows on sunny days, which is why the arc here belongs in the scene rather than sitting in it as decoration.
