Thin, even line work describes a lotus with broad open petals on this page, drawn in two simple tiers with a tall pointed petal standing at the middle. Small spiral curls and pointed leaf tips ring the design at a comfortable distance, tucked into the spaces between the outer petals rather than crowding them. Enormous amounts of white paper remain.
This ranks among the easiest sheets in the whole lotus set, and it is the one to reach for when someone wants to finish something in fifteen minutes. There is nothing small enough to demand a fine tip, and nothing layered enough to require planning. Hand it to a four year old with a box of crayons and it will work.
The delicate thin outlines do mean heavy marker can visually swallow them. Pencils or light crayon pressure keep the drawing visible under the color, which matters more here than on the bolder sheets.
A lotus breathes through its stems. Hollow channels run the length of them and push air down into roots buried in oxygen starved mud, which is how the plant survives a pond bottom that would kill most flowers.
