Scarecrow In A Spooky Pumpkin Patch Coloring Page

This scarecrow is the unsettling kind rather than the friendly one. It hangs on its cross frame with a stitched sack for a face, straw pushing out at the cuffs and collar, over a field of pumpkins on twisting vines under a heavy sky. The detailed style means the straw is drawn strand by strand and the vines curl in and out of each other right across the ground.

Straw is where the page is won or lost. Do not use one yellow. Lay a pale yellow over the whole mass first, then go back with a gold and a light brown on only some of the strands, following the direction each one lies in. That variation is what stops it looking like a yellow cloud. The sack face works well left almost bare, with just a gray shadow under the stitching.

Scarecrows do not frighten crows for long. Crows recognize individual human faces and remember them for years, and they work out within a week or two that a stationary figure poses no threat. Farmers who still use them move them regularly for exactly that reason.
