This diya is the decorated cousin of the plain one in this set. The lamp is the same wide shallow saucer on a round foot, seen slightly from above so you can look into the bowl, but a band of ornament wraps the whole outside of it. That band is a run of circles, each one drawn twice, an outer ring with a smaller ring inside it, repeated all the way around and continuing onto the foot underneath. A wick leans up from the right hand rim and a teardrop flame sits on its tip. There are around fourteen rings to work through, so this is the sheet to reach for when a child wants something that takes longer than five minutes. Alternating two colors around the band is the obvious approach and it looks good finished. The inside of the bowl is left completely empty apart from a small mound where the oil would sit, which keeps the page from tipping over into fussy. Real clay lamps are often painted like this before they are lit, sometimes with mirror chips pressed into the sides.
