Cartoon Turkey With a Wide Feather Fan Coloring Page

A plump cartoon turkey faces straight out of the sheet with eleven rounded tail feathers opened into a complete fan behind it. The body is one big oval, the wattle hangs in a long loop beside the beak, and two thin legs end in splayed three toed feet. Nothing sits behind the bird, so the whole page is turkey and white paper.

Eleven separate feathers give you eleven decisions, which is the appeal here. One approach is to run warm colors around the fan in order, starting with yellow at the far left and arriving at deep red on the far right, so the finished sheet reads as a gradient rather than a scatter. Another is to alternate two colors all the way around for a striped effect. Whichever you pick, keep the body a single flat brown and the fan stays the loudest thing on the page.

The fan itself belongs to the males. A tom raises and spreads those tail feathers to display, then folds them flat against his back the rest of the time, so a turkey walking around a field usually looks far narrower than this drawing suggests.
